How the end date is counted
A month here means a calendar month: the plan ends the day before the same date next month. Joining on 15 January for one month ends on 14 February. Three months from 15 January ends on 14 April.
Where the next month is shorter, the date is clamped to its last day first. Joining on 31 January for one month gives 27 February in a non-leap year, because February has no 31st, so the count lands on the 28th and ends the day before. Adding extra days, for example bonus days from a referral or days added after a freeze, simply moves the end date on by that many days.
The reminder dates are worked back from the end date. Many gyms send a first reminder 7 days before, another at 3 days and one on the day. If your gym counts a month as 30 days instead, the dates will differ by a day or two. Pick one rule and tell members which one you use.
About membership end dates
Is the end date the last day or the first day after the plan?
This calculator shows the last day the member can train. A one-month plan that starts on 10 October ends on 9 November, so the member trains for the full month and renews on 10 November.
How are months counted?
By calendar month. A plan that starts on the 31st ends on the last day of the month that has no 31st, so a 1-month plan from 31 January ends on 27 February (or 28 in a leap year).
When should I send renewal reminders?
7 days before the end date, 3 days before and on the last day, and once more a day or two after for members who have not renewed. Jimwala sends these on WhatsApp for you.
Does a freeze change the end date?
If you allow freezes, add the number of frozen days to the end date. Write the policy down so members and staff agree on it.
