Jimwala vs other gym software in India: an honest comparison
By Himanshu Thakur, Founder, Jimwala · Updated · 6 min read
People who search "Jimwala vs" want a straight answer about whether it fits. We do not name or rate other companies here, because their prices and features change and we would rather not publish something stale. What we can do is show the points that decide the choice, so you can hold any product, ours included, against them.
The short version
- Jimwala is built for small and mid-size Indian gyms that run from a phone: owner, manager and front desk.
- Fees go to your own UPI ID. Jimwala never holds your members' money and takes no cut.
- WhatsApp reminders and receipts are included in every plan. You only buy credits for broadcast offers.
- Every feature is in every plan. Plans differ only by member count, from ₹399 a month billed yearly.
- It does not connect to fingerprint or face machines and it does not set up UPI AutoPay mandates.
Eight checks, and our answers
- Price: ₹399 a month billed yearly for Starter (up to 100 members), or ₹549 month to month. Final, with no GST added.
- Messages: reminders and receipts included. Credits are for broadcasts only.
- Payments: members pay your UPI ID and you confirm with one tap. No gateway. Cash, card and bank payments can be recorded too.
- GST: tax invoices with CGST and SGST when you add your GSTIN, plain fee receipts when you do not.
- Attendance: QR cards, and a QR poster at the entrance for self check-in. No biometric machines.
- Staff: trainer and front-desk logins with roles, staff clock-in with a live timer, salaries added to expenses.
- Setup: import from Excel, CSV or a photo of your register. A free gym website is created at signup.
- Exit: export your data any time.
Where something else may suit you better
- You must have fingerprint or face-recognition door machines. Our guide on biometric versus QR attendance covers the trade-offs.
- You want every member on a UPI AutoPay mandate.
- You want a gateway to confirm payments automatically, with nobody checking an app. Jimwala is built around paying your own UPI ID and confirming with one tap.
- You run a large chain that needs a deep link to a specific accounting package. Jimwala has multi-branch reports and exports but is not an accounting system.
Where it fits well
A single gym or a few branches where the owner checks the money personally. A town or city gym where members already pay by UPI and cash and a gateway feels like extra paperwork. A studio with batches and limited seats, like yoga, Zumba or CrossFit. An owner leaving a register or Excel who wants to be running in an afternoon.
The comparison most gyms are really making
It is usually Jimwala versus a register, not versus another product. A register is free and familiar. It cannot send a reminder or tell you who owes what, and it disappears with the book. We wrote that comparison out in full.
Settling it in an afternoon
Pick the two products you like best. Start a free trial of each (ours is 14 days, no card). Add ten real members and take one real payment in each. Give your front desk a login and watch them without helping. Compare the twelve-month price at your member count, messages included. Whichever your front desk finds easiest at a price that holds up over a year is the right one. If that is Jimwala, great. If it is not, you have lost nothing.
