Gym renewal loss calculator
Members who do not renew are the biggest hidden cost in a gym. Enter your numbers to see what that costs each year, and what a few more renewals are worth.
Your gym
What it costs you
54 members leave in a month. At ₹1,000 each, that is ₹54,000 a month, or ₹6,48,000 a year if it repeats.
What winning some back is worth
Keeping 12 more members a month is worth ₹1,44,000 a year.
For comparison, Jimwala costs from ₹4,788 a year (₹399 a month billed yearly). It sends the reminders and takes the UPI payments that bring members back.
This is arithmetic on your own numbers, not a promise. Read how to increase gym membership renewals.
The arithmetic behind it
Lost members are your members multiplied by the share who do not renew. With 120 members whose plans end this month and 55% renewing, 45% leave: 54 members. At ₹1,000 each that is ₹54,000 a month, or ₹6,48,000 a year if it repeats every month.
The second figure shows what a small improvement is worth. Winning back 10% of 120 is 12 members, and at ₹1,000 a month that is ₹1,44,000 a year. Those 12 people already know where the gym is and what it charges, which is why this is usually cheaper than finding 12 new members.
It is a simplification. It treats every ending plan as one month of fee and assumes the same rate each month, and real gyms see swings around New Year and exam time. Use it to see the size of the problem, then measure your own renewal rate for a few months.
About gym renewals
What is a good renewal rate for a gym?
It depends on the town, the season and the plan length. Many small gyms see a big drop after the first month and around New Year or exam time. Track your own number for three months and then try to improve it, rather than chasing a figure from somewhere else.
How do I improve my renewal rate?
Remind members three days before expiry and on the day, make renewal a one-tap UPI payment, follow up on members who stop coming, and offer a small reward for renewing early. Our guide on gym membership renewals covers each step.
Are these numbers a promise?
No. The calculator only does arithmetic on the numbers you enter. It cannot tell you how many members you would keep.
