GST invoices and fee receipts for gyms, ready to share on WhatsApp

Since 22 September 2025 GST on gym and fitness services is 5% without input tax credit, and members ask for proper bills more often. Jimwala gives every payment a clean invoice or receipt with your gym's details. Members open it from a WhatsApp link and can print it or save it as a PDF.

What you can do

A proper tax invoice when you have a GSTIN

Add your GSTIN in Settings and membership invoices show your gym's name, address and GSTIN, an invoice number and date, the member, the service code 999723, the taxable value, CGST and SGST, the total and every payment received.

Works with the prices you already charge

Your plan prices are treated as GST-inclusive, so nothing you charge changes. The tax is worked out from inside the price. For example a Rs 1,500 plan at 5% shows Rs 1,428.57 taxable value plus Rs 35.71 CGST plus Rs 35.72 SGST.

Not registered? A plain fee receipt

Without a GSTIN, members get a clear fee receipt with what they paid for, the dates and the amount, and no tax lines, which is what an unregistered gym issues.

Old invoices never change

The GSTIN and rate are saved on each invoice when it is issued. If you change your rate or GSTIN later, invoices already given to members stay exactly as they were.

Share it in one tap

On a member's Payments tab, tap the WhatsApp button and the chat opens with the message and the receipt link typed. The member can also print it or save it as a PDF from their phone. No app is needed.

Part payments and balances

The page lists each payment with its date, method and reference such as a UPI transaction number, then shows how much was paid and the balance still due.

Numbers in order

Invoices are numbered one after another, like INV-00123, and a cancelled invoice keeps its number and shows as cancelled.

How it works

  1. Add your GSTIN

Settings, then Gym details. Leave it empty if you are not registered for GST.

  2. Charge members as usual

Sell a plan or record a payment. The invoice is created automatically.

  3. Send the receipt

Tap the WhatsApp button next to the payment. The member gets a link they can print or save as PDF.

Questions about gst invoices and receipts

What is the GST rate on gym membership now?

GST on gym and fitness services has been 5% without input tax credit since 22 September 2025, after the 56th GST Council meeting. Rates can change, so check with your accountant. You can set the rate in Jimwala.

Do I need to register for GST?

That depends on your turnover and your state, so ask a chartered accountant. Jimwala works either way: with a GSTIN you get tax invoices, and without one you get plain fee receipts.

Does Jimwala file my GST returns?

No. Jimwala prepares your invoices and keeps your records. Filing returns is done on the GST portal, usually through your accountant.

Are shop sales GST invoices too?

Not yet. Sales of supplements and other shop items get a plain receipt for now. Gym membership fees get the GST tax invoice.

Are my prices GST-inclusive or exclusive?

Jimwala treats your plan prices as GST-inclusive, which is how most gyms quote them. The invoice shows the tax inside the price.
